I have just noticed that the Moscow Ballet are advertising a single performance of Swan lake on Wednesday 22nd October 2014. They promise to continue to demonstrate their quality of dance and performances in the production of this , set to Tchaikovsky timeless classic.
Check out our availability calendar to see if you can turn a visit to the theatre into a mini break.
What better time for a trip to Blackpool to visit the illustrious illuminations. The illuminations were switched on on the 29th August and will continue throughout until the 9th November. However every Friday night in September between 7 pm and 8 pm you can be entertained by spectacular firework displays forming an international competition. Check out availability on our website or perhaps plan a short break during the October half -term.
Hope to see you soon.
Just another quick reminder of one of our very popular local events The August bank holiday tractor pulling on the purpose built track at Great Eccleston in Lancashire. Tractor pulling is known as the world’s most powerful motor sport. This year it takes place on the 23rd and 24th August and tickets can be purchased in advanced on line. The event starts at 4 pm and the competitors pull well into the evening. Watch the sparks rise into the dark sky–listen to the mighty engines roar. An event worth attending. Check to see if we have vacancies. You might even have to book now for 2015.
Just a mile down the lane Ye Horns Inn provides wonderful meals frequently using fresh local produce. Ye Horns Inn is also the site of a new micro brewery producing a range of beers and ales. Why not sample the Goosnargh Gold? The bank holiday sees the second annual beer festival taking place from 1pm until midnight on Friday , Saturday, and Sunday. Last year’s event was a resounding success. Only limited availability for accommodation remain here but perhaps you can find the odd space and wander down to the Horns. ( Also worth pencilling a note in your diary to make sure you book for next year!)

This year’s festival will take place on 9th August 2014. Last year 18,500 visitors flocked to Clitheroe to enjoy a true red rose day out beneath the resplendent Clitheroe castle. The aim of the festival is to showcase the produce from the finest producers in the Ribble Valley and Lancashire. Clitheroe is not overdone with car parks but a Park and Ride service will operate from the Clitheroe Auction Mart csr park and visitors can also arrive by bus or train.Tickets for some of the activities are available from the website.
A great day out not to be misssed.
Just a quick reminder that it is Garstang Annual Agricultural and Horticultural Show on Saturday 2nd August. This is an excellent one day show steeped in tradition and very representative of the nature of the local agriculture. This year is the 199th show so should be well worth a visit and possibly a date to also enter in your diary for next year. The weather looks to be set fair so come on down.
One of the largest collections of Viking silver ever found in Britain is currently on show at the Museum of Lancashire in Preston. The Silverdale Hoard is made up of more than 200 items dating from around 900 AD. The pieces include beautifully crafted jewellery, coins, ingots and 141 silver fragments known as hacksilver, which the vikings used as money. The hoard was acquired last year by Lancashire County Council’s museum service and was moved to the Museum of Lancashire in February and the exhibition will run until 7th December.

I have just noticed on www. travelzoo, com there are some heavily discounted tickets for certain performances until the 14th September. Blackpool is the only city outside of the UK which will be showing Mama Mia in 2014. The performances of this show have already received rave reviews and most performances seemed to be played to full houses. If you love live musicals then i am sure you will not be disappointed. However if the idea of staying in Blackpool does not really appeal we are about 20 minutes drive away in the peace and quiet of beautiful countryside.
