Ribble Steam Railway

Situated down on Riversway Docklands is Ribble Steam Railway, just head towards to Preston and follow the signs for the docklands. The railway operates most weekends from March to October but usually has special events planned for Easter and Bank Holiday weekends. Once you have explored the delights of the steam railway move round to the dock area itself and enjoy the picturesque scene of all the variety of  moored boats. Visit Garstang

With the start of British Summer time next weekend this could be the perfect excuse to plan a short break away. For myself, the location of a good place to stay means lots of things to do, places to visit without too much extra travelling. We are only a few miles away from Garstang, a popular market town o the banks of the River Wyre. The town has a population of 5000 and is a true mixture of the old and the new, with historic buildings and medieval weinds, alongside contemporary shops and services. Look out for the leaflet containing” The Garstang Heritage Trail” which provides a guided walk around the town and can be adapted to different duration. The local tourist information centre has a whole host of additional leaflets and information on other places of interest. Come and enjoy.

It’s National Breakfast Week

Just in case you did not realise this week is National Breakfast Week and that is just the meal that we pride ourselves on serving to perfection. We use fresh local bacon and sausage from independent retailers. Our returning guests joke that it is the “all day breakfast” but served with a smile from 7a.m to 9a.m. If you enjoy starting your day with the good Old Fashioned English breakfast then come and visit us. But don’t worry we can supply a variety of tasty alternatives and vegetarians or those with special diets do not need to feel left out.

Valentine’s Day

The days seem to be flying by and its now less than a month to Valentine’s Day. We have a lovely quiet rural location perfect for that romantic evening but we are also fortunate to have several good quality pubs and restaurants near by. These provide excellent local produce freshly cooked and served. Look out for Goosnargh duck, Kirkham’s farmhouse Lancashire cheese, Bury black puddings and Glasson Dock smoked salmon. But leave room for our breakfast sausages supplied by our independent local butcher.

Check out availability but remember it will also soon be Mothering Sunday and then Easter all calender events worthy of a celebration.
