The temporary exhibition of the Silverdale Hoard in the Museum of Lancashire has been extended until the the 12th April 2015. The Hoard consists of over 200 pieces of silver believed to date back to around 900 AD. This makes it the third largest silver hoard to have been found in this country so far. Admission to the Museum is free and is open Tuesday to Saturday 10.30a.m. to 5p.m. and Sunday twelve noon to 5p.m. Not withstanding the Silverdale Hoard, this museum is well worth a visit in its own right and an enjoyable way to spend some time during this cold season.
